Letters to the Editor
Sir, The latest "fad" in Bihar seems to be the kidnapping of innocent schoolchildren. The RJD chief, Lalu Prasad, and Chief Minister Rabri Devi, however, seem unfazed. Just as corruption has occupied a lowly fifth place in opinion polls, a day will come when crime too will slide down in importance with the people gradually resigning themselves to their fate.
H.R. Bapu Satyanarayana,
Sir, Is it not ironical that Sonia Gandhi, by promising to improve the law and order situation in Bihar has, by implication, lamented the lawlessness in the State? After allowing "tainted" MPs to be included in the UPA Government, does she have the moral authority to speak about the "deteriorating quality of politics?"
M.S. Rajasekaran,
