Sir, I refer to the editorial, "Justice for the disabled" (Jan. 31). It is disturbing that India's population comprises more than 20 million disabled but less than one per cent of the employable among them is engaged in income-generation work. To bridge the gap, certain posts such as phone attendant, lift operator, etc., could be reserved for the below-matriculation level candidates. While it should be ensured that the three per cent reservation is implemented, it is equally important to see that their working conditions are ameliorated.
