Purandara Dasa aradhana from today

BELLARY, FEB. 1. Sri Madhwa Sangha, Bellary, has organised "Purandara Dasa Saptaratrotsava," a weeklong festival, as part of the Purandara Dasa Aradhana celebrations at Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Satyanarayanpet, in the city from Wednesday.

Sri Vidyadeesh Swamiji of Phalimaru Mutt, Udupi, will deliver religious discourses from Wednesday to Monday between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. On February 8, the swamiji will perform the "Samsthana pooja" to conclude his programme.

In addition, there would be religious discourses, quiz for children and elders, dress competetions for children and also rendering dasa keerthanas.

Udupi Krishnachar, Ramachar, and H. Krishnachar, will deliver religious discourse between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, respectively.

On Saturday, a dress competition for children below the age of 10 will be conducted. On Sunday, a quiz programme on "Dasa and Vyasa sahitya" will be held. A competition for children on Dasa keertana will be held on Monday evening.

On Tuesday, the portrait of Sri Purandara Dasa will be taken out in a procession. In the evening, Roopa and Deepa (Kasarvalli sisters) from Bangalore will give a vocal music programme at the open-air stage adjacent to the kalyan mantap.

Sri Madhwa Navaratrotsava

As part of the Sri Madhwa Navaratrotsava celebrations, the Madhwa Sangha has organised "Harivayustuthi punahascharana" and "Sumadhwavijaya parayana" in the mornings from February 9 to February 17 at Madhwa Sadhan. In the evenings, Pandit Sanjeevamurthy Das, Bangalore, will deliver a discourse on "Sri Madhwacharya's Srimadbhagawat Tatparya Nirnaya."
