Tribals against Polavaram, says HRF report

The tribal population in the area that is likely to be submerged under the Polavaram project in East and West Godavari districts is opposed to this irrigation scheme, according to the report of a fact-finding committee of the Human Rights Forum (HRF).
The committee, which visited 15 villages in Polavaram (West Godavari) and Devipatnam (East Godavari) mandals, recently, claimed that the tribals here feared the loss of their source of livelihood and their cultural identity if displaced by the Polavaram project.
