Toyota Kirloskar discontinues Qualis production

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, FEB. 1. Toyota Kirloskar Motor today said that it had discontinued production of Qualis, the multi-purpose vehicle. In a release, the company announced that "it is withdrawing its best selling model from the Indian market."

Qualis was introduced in the Indian market in January 2000.

The release said market research by the company had indicated changing needs of the customers.

Hence, the Qualis was withdrawn and "will give way for a more modern and customer value driven vehicle," the release added.

A company spokesman said the new model should be out in a month.

PTI reports:

Industry sources said Qualis would be replaced by Innova, which is expected to be launched shortly. The exact details, including the price, were being worked out, they added.
