Sourashtra College triumphs

MADURAI, FEB. 1. Sourashtra College lifted the Rev. Fr. Arulsamy Memorial Trophy by holding American College to a goalless draw in the last match of the four-team league of the Madurai Kamaraj University champion colleges hockey tournament at MGR Race Course Stadium here on Tuesday.

Sourashtra College emerged winner with seven points (two wins and a draw) and American College finished runner-up with five points (one win and two draws).

Arulanandar College, Karumathur, which beat MSS Wakf Board College 5-0 in another match finished third with four points (one win, one draw and one loss).

The results (league): Sourashtra College 0 drew with American College 0; Arulanandar College 5 (Antonyraj 3, Prabu 2) bt MSS Wakf Board College 0; Sourashtra College 2 (Balasubramanian 2) bt Arulanandar College 1 (Antony Raj); American College 6 (Venkatesh 2, Sathyaseelan 2, Arun, Ravi Varma) bt MSS Wakf Board College 1 (Manikandan); Sourashtra College 2 (Balasubramanian, Govinda Babu) bt MSS Wakf Board College 0; American College 1 (Vinodh) drew with Arulanandar College 1 (Meganathan).
