HYDERABAD, FEB. 1. K. Balagopal and S. Jeevan Kumar of the Human Rights Forum (HRF) have resigned from the monitoring committee constituted to oversee violations of the ceasefire agreement between the State Government and naxalites during peace talks. In their letter to the committee coordinator, Ghanta Chakrapani, they said no purpose was served by their membership in the panel in the absence of talks.
PCC chief optimistic
The APCC president, K. Keshava Rao, has expressed confidence that the Government will be able to bring the Maoists for the second round of talks.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr. Keshava Rao said he was sure that the talks would continue and all the grievances redressed in a peaceful and amicable manner.
Pranab coming
The Union Defence Minister, Pranab Mukherjee, is visiting Hyderabad on February 4 to participate in the Congress Nagara Palika convention.
