HYDERABAD, FEB. 1. Picking holes in the investigation of the Paritala Ravi murder case, the Telugu Desam has described the TV interview of Julakanti Srinivas Reddy, one of the accused persons as a "drama enacted by the police" to divert the attention of people from the main players listed in the FIR. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the TDP leaders, K. Vidyadhara Rao, M. Jaganadham, R. Seetharama Rao and M. Narsimhulu alleged that Srinivas Reddy was in fact in police custody and turned over to the key conspirators of "the Government-sponsored murder." That he was taken into custody was proved by the owner of the house in Hyderabad where Srinivas Reddy was taking shelter and the city Police Commissioner expressing regrets that he had slipped out of the city.
List of questions
Posing a list 22 questions relating to the "loose ends" in the investigation, they said the entire effort of the police seems to be to shield those figuring in the FIR like the Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy's son Jaganmohan Reddy and wash off its hands. As part of these efforts surrenders were being stage-managed and their so-called confessions publicised, to make it appear that the murder mystery was almost solved, even before the CBI initiated the probe. They wanted to know if the police performed the "panchanama," clues from the spot of murder. Did the police obtain the post-mortem report and if yes, why was it not made public. Why Suri, lodged in the Cherlapally jail, had not been not interrogated so far. How many cell phones were recovered from Suri and his accomplices. Why Jaganmohan Reddy was not taken into custody and searches conducted on his houses in Hyderabad and Bangalore, they asked.
