THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 1. The former Electricity Minister Kadavoor Sivadasan confirmed his position in Congress factional politics by rejecting the Karunakaran faction's decision to boycott the Assembly debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address. Mr. Sivadasan participated in the Assembly debate to signal his parting of ways with the senior Congress leader, K. Karunakaran. Mr. Sivadasan has been Mr. Karunakaran's ardent follower since he joined the Congress in the 1980s, but the relations started getting strained after the Lok Sabha elections. Mr. Sivadasan flayed the CPI(M) for its "politics of violence." He alleged that the party had sabotaged the rule of law when it was in power by pointing out to its interferences in important cases, including the Payyavoor, Kozhikode and Suryanelly sex scandal cases.
