`Alliance with JMM strong'

By A Correspondent

RANCHI, FEB. 1. Setting all speculation at rest, the Congress today reaffirmed that it had an alliance with the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and that they were all set to form the next Government in Jharkhand.

However, the party preferred to remain silent about their strained relations with the third key ally of the United Progressive Alliance, the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

The senior Congress leader and Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dixit, told The Hindu here today that her party had an undisputed alliance with the JMM and rumours about the worsening relations between them were concocted.Shibu Soren was the JMM chief and the Congress had nothing to do with the statements of other leaders of his party.

`Creating a rift'

She saidsome of Mr. Soren's adversaries in the JMM were trying to accentuate differences between the Congress and the JMM. Recently, the Rajya Sabha MP and JMM vice-president had accused the Congress of abetting differences between the JMM and the RJD for its own political gains.

Ms. Dixit said that anti-tribal forces had been ruling the roost in the State for the past four years under the NDA Government.
