CHENNAI, FEB. 1. A seminar for teachers on the role of reward and corrective measures in schools and value-oriented education was organised as part of the centenary celebrations of the P.S. Charities and P.S. Higher Secondary School recently. Around 100 teachers from 20 schools of the State Board, Matriculation, CBSE and Corporation participated. D.K. Oza, former Vice-Chancellor of the Gandhigram University, said that self-discipline and commitment for teachers was necessary. Mohana Chandrasekar initiated the discussion on counselling and correcting children. The afternoon session was chaired by Maya Gaithonde, secretary, Bala Mandir, Kamaraj Trust. She emphasised the need for inculcating values such as honesty, caring for others and being accommodative. Among those who participated were M. Ramji, secretary of the school, C.V. Narasimham, president, P.S. Educational Society, and B. Raghuveeran, headmaster.
