Cloudy skies

CHENNAI, FEB. 1. The sky will be generally cloudy with a possibility of rain in some areas on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6 Degrees Celsius and a minimum of 23.8. The rainfall was 0.1 mm and the humidity was 79 per cent.

Meenambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 28.8 Degrees Celsius and a minimum of 22.6. The rainfall was trace and the humidity was 85 per cent.

Certificate course

The Tamil Nadu Science and Technology Centre is organising a 30-hour certificate course on computer awareness in Windows and MS Office at the Periyar Science and Technology Centre Campus between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

`Shakti Bazaar'

The Indian Overseas Bank, Indira Nagar, arranged a two-day "Shakti Bazaar" programme where 10 women entrepreneurs participated and sold products. The Sakthi-IOB Chidambaram Chettiar Memorial Trust trained the entrepreneurs.

Health camp

The Respiratory Foundation of India and Rotary Club of Madras North West conducted a screening camp for construction workers for breathing diseases.

A total of 138 persons were screened and 58 were found to have problems including Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases, Bronchial Asthma and nose allergies.

English courses

Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, T. Nagar, will be starting three-month spoken English courses (basic and intermediate) for students, employees and housewives in the third week of February. Application fee is Rs. 20. Contact 28143896/3514
