Heavy rain lashes city

VISAKHAPATNAM, FEB. 1. Unseasonal rain lashed the city and several areas in the district on Tuesday.

Normal life came to a standstill as the downpour lashed for about 30 minutes in the evening inundating several low-lying areas like Poorna Market, Soldierpet, Sebastian Colony and Sheila Nagar.

While Waltair area recorded a rainfall of two cm, the airport had 1 cm.

According to Cyclone Warning Centre officials, due to western disturbance over Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood and frequent occurrence of tremors in the Andamans after a gap of a fortnight, there was slight change in climatic conditions.
