From A Correspondent
NEDUMBASSERY, FEB. 1. The Central Petroleum Secretary, S.C. Tripathi, has said that the proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal at Puthuvypeen is on the right track and there is no need for worry about the project getting delayed. Talking to presspersons at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery today, Mr. Tripathi said that the work on the project would start by the end of this year or early next year. The work would take three to four years for completion, he said. He said that the terminal with a vapourisation capacity of 2.5 million metric tonnes would have a storage capacity of 5 million metric tonnes. The marine infrastructure like jetties would also be developed to handle 5 million metric tonnes of LNG. The project has been designed in such a way that any future expansion was possible in a short period, he said.
