The tumour that was removed from the ovary of a woman at the Ernakulam General Hospital on Tuesday.
KOCHI, FEB. 1. A tumour weighing 8 kg was removed from the ovary of a 50-year-old woman at the General Hospital today. In a surgery that lasted two hours, the surgeon V. Girija removed the tumour from the left ovary of Sarsu, hailing from Kurumassery. Two-and-a-half litres of fluid were earlier removed from the tumour. According to Dr. Girija, the size of the tumour was detected after scanning. Sarsu had consulted Dr. Girija two weeks back. Though Sarsu was advised to undergo a surgery at the medical college, she preferred the General Hospital. Menopause had set in five years ago for Sarsu. She, however, complained of periodic bleeding. Sarsu had a distended abdomen and consulted the doctor when she found it difficult to walk and do the household chores.
