THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 1. The UDF council party leader in the City Corporation, K. Maheswaran Nair, today urged the Government to revoke the ban on the State lottery. In a pressnote issued here, he said the ban had affected the livelihood of 3.5 lakh vendors including a large number of handicapped, blind and unemployed persons. Mr. Nair said the lottery ban would deprive the Government of a substantial source of revenue besides throwing people out of work. He appealed to the Government to withdraw the ban in the light of the mounting public protest against the decision. Mr. Nair said the UDF would move an adjournment motion on the issue at the council meeting on Wednesday.
