Man found hanging

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, FEB. 1 . A 35-year-old man was found hanging from a tree in the compound of his house in the Nemom police station limits. The police identified the deceased as Vijayakumar. They suspect Vijayakumar to have committed suicide. A case of unnatural death has been registered and investigations were on.

The Vattiyoorkavu police today arrested nearly 100 residents of Nettayam on the charge of trying to prevent the felling of rubber trees in a private plantation in Manalayam. An official said those who were felling the trees were trade union workers and they had a High Court order that permitted only union members to work in the plantation.
