Water supply to be affected

NEW DELHI, FEB. 1. Starting Wednesday, water supply to large parts of the Capital including areas in West, South, Outer and East Delhi will remain affected from three days as a result of annual flushing and emergency repair work to be carried out by the Delhi Jal Board.

According to an official statement, due to annual flushing of booster pumping station, overhead tanks and reservoir, water supply to Holambi, Prahaladpur, Alipur, Narela, Qutubgarh, Bawana, Khera Khurd, Tilak Vihar, Hairjan Colony, Vikaspuri, Tilak Nagar, Vikaspuri and Madipur will be available at low pressure on Wednesday.

Similarly, due to annual flushing of Kalkaji reservoir, water supply will remain affected at Kalkaji, Okhla Industrial Area, Kalkaji Extrension, Okhla Industrial Estate, Greater Kailash, Nehru Place, East of Kailash, Sriniwaspuri, Kailash Hills, Garhi, Sant Nagar and Govindpuri for two days from February 2.

Also, a majority of localities falling in East and North-East Delhi will also face water crisis on February 3 and 4 as a result of emergency repair work to be carried out in Shahdara main line.

The major areas that will receive water at low pressure include Dayanand Colony, AGCR Enclave, Bahubali Enclave, Saini Enclave, Chitra Vihar, Jagriti Enclave, Surajmal Vihar, Anand Vihar, ESI Hospital, Yojna Vihar, Vivek Vihar, Shrestha Vihar, Jhilmil Colony, Shard Vihar, Gandhi Nagar, Kiran Vihar, Rishi Vihar, Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Priyadarshini Viahr, Shiv Puri, Bihari Colony, Kanti Nagar, Maujpur, Zafarabad, Navin Shahdara, Bhrampuri and Vivek Park.

In case of emergency, water tankers will be available on telephone numbers -- 25535659 (Janakpuri), 26414746 (Greater Kailash), 26473720 (Giri Nagar), 25193140 and 25116805 (Shivaji Enclave), 22814651 (Loni Road), 22521537 (Preet Vihar), 24928523 (Yamuna Vihar) and 27700789 (Holambi).
