Co-optex to organise design contest

HYDERABAD, FEB.1. The Tamil Nadu Handloom Weavers' Cooperative society, more popular as Co-optex, is organising `Design Competition' to select new designs and make its handloom fabrics attractive to the customers. Designs are to be sent to the Co-optex Divya Showroom, Chenetha Bhavan, Nampally, before February 24 and the jury would select the best designs on February 27 and 28. Giving the details, the Regional Manager P. Ramu, told reporters here on Tuesday that the design competition would be conducted in seven categories -- woven cotton, printed cotton saris, woven silk saris, woven bedsheets, printed bedsheets, woven and printed furnishings and `lungis' -- and there would be three prizes and five consolation prizes in each category.

The first, second and third prizes would carry gift coupons worth Rs.5,000, Rs.3,000 and Rs.2,000 respectively for purchase of Co-optex products.

The consolation prize would carry gift coupon of Rs.1,000, he said. The prizes worth Rs. 1.05 lakhs would be distributed on March 3.
