HYDERABAD, FEB. 1. The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday got a glimpse of the progress made by China after the launch of reforms and the steps taken for prevention of corruption in administration. In two separate meetings with the Assistant Minister and Minister of International department of the Communist Party of China, Chen Fengxiang and Wang Jiarui respectively, the visiting delegation led by Dr. Reddy, discussed various issues, according to a press release. Mr. Fengxiang told the delegation that ever since reforms process took off in 1978, the nation had made good progress in various fields.
Corruption
Efforts were made to take care of ecological development and maintain environmental balance while aggressively pursuing policies of economic growth. Responding to a query from Dr. Reddy, he explained that corruption was not an unusual thing in any Government. The Chinese Government had recently formulated and put in practice some new guidelines to prevent corruption, monitor implementation of anti-corruption measures and punish the guilty mercilessly.
