Of instability

Sir, — The editorial, "Of Aya Rams and Gaya Rams" (Feb. 2), is right in saying that instability is the natural mode of political existence in Goa. Most of the small States face this problem when the ruling party has a slender margin. The political parties that advocate the creation of smaller States should think again. Carving out smaller States leads only to instability and wastage of taxpayers' money on frequent elections.

Sujatha Murali,
Chennai
