Sun TV hands over Rs. 5.5 crores to tsunami relief fund

Kalanidhi Maran, Chairman and Managing Director, Sun TV, accompanied by his wife Kaveri, presenting a cheque for Rs. 5.5 crores to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, for tsunami relief in New Delhi on Wednesday. The amount comprises the contribution of the public and a personal contribution from Mr. Kalanidhi Maran. The Union Minister, Dayanidhi Maran, is at left.

The chairman and managing director of Sun Network, Kalanidhi Maran, today handed over Rs. 5.5 crores to the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, towards the Tsunami Relief Fund.
While Rs. 4.5 crores was contributed by viewers of the Sun Network following the appeal made by Sun TV, Rs. 1 crore was personally contributed by Mr. Kalanidhi Maran.
Mr. Kalanidhi Maran requested the Prime Minister to allocate Rs. 4 crores for the benefit of tsunami victims in Tamil Nadu. The Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dayanidhi Maran, and Mrs. Kaveri Kalanidhi, wife of Mr. Kalanidhi Maran, were present.
