BANGALORE, FEB. 2. The rain that surprised Bangalore in the early hours of Wednesday not only lowered temperatures but also caused power shutdown in several parts of the city. Residents of Vijayanagar and nearby areas said power supply went off at 3 a.m. and was restored after five hours. People living in the Cox Town area said there was no electricity from 10 a.m. while the residents of Srinagar claimed there was no power from midnight. Officials of Bangalore Electricity Supply Company were apologetic about the power shutdown. "We have had good rain after a long while, so many lines tripped. That is why there was a problem," they explained. According to them, all the outages were fixed in a couple of hours.
