Mainly clear day forecast

NEW DELHI FEB. 2. The weatherman has forecast a misty morning with mainly clear sky in the morning, which is likely to become partly cloudy during afternoon/evening on Thursday. The minimum temperature is likely to be around 6 degree Celsius.

The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Wednesday were 20.2 and 6.6 degree Celsius, while Palam recorded 20.2 and 5.2 degree Celsius respectively. While the maximum humidity recorded at Safdarjung and Palam was 89 and 94 per cent, the minimum was 32 and 40 per cent respectively.

Black day

at AIIMS

NEW DELHI FEB. 2. The Resident Doctors' Association (RDA) of All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) will be observing a black day on Thursday in wake of a suicide attempt by a resident doctor from the Department of Neuro-Surgery on Tuesday.

This comes close at heels of a suicide by a physician this past month.

At an emergency meeting held today, members of the RDA said they had already written to the Union Health Minister seeking his intervention in what they claimed to be "intense harassment by seniors" which had lead to the situation, causing one physician to take his life and another attempting to kill himself at the Institute.

Fatal hit

NEW DELHI FEB. 2. A head constable with the traffic police was killed after a Tata Indica car hit him at Mayapuri Chowk in West Delhi today. The Indica driver has been arrested.

Around 11 a.m., the head constable, later identified as Rajender Singh, was crossing the road at Mayapuri Chowk when the speeding Indica hit him.

The Indica driver, Mahesh, rushed Rajender to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Driver killed

NEW DELHI FEB. 2. The 32-year-old driver of a mini-bus was killed and three others, including a woman, were injured when the vehicle overturned at Seelampur in North-East Delhi today. The injured have been admitted to GTB Hospital.

The incident occurred near Jafrabad in Seelampur when Shakeel Ahmed, who was driving the mini-bus, suddenly applied the brakes to avoid collision with another vehicle. In the process, he lost control over the wheels and the mini-bus overturned. Shakeel and three others, Rehman Ali (22), Shahid Ali (25) and Guddo (40), sustained injuries. They were taken to GTB Hospital where Shakeel was declared dead on arrival.

Shop burgled

NEW DELHI FEB. 2. A mobile phone shop was burgled at Connaught Place in New Delhi on Wednesday. Goods worth over Rs. 2 lakhs were found missing.

The incident occurred in the early hours when some unidentified persons broke into the shop and fled with some mobile phones and three computer parts.
