ERODE, FEB. 3. The Revenue Divisional Officer, R. Gajalakshmi, inaugurated a road safety awareness camp and exhibition at Rajendra Matric Higher Secondary School in Vadugapatty, near here, today. She said road accidents were on the rise in Tamil Nadu and 70 per cent of them were caused because of careless driving and neglect of traffic rules. She said that the Baghavathy Welfare Trust had conducted 10 such road safety awareness camps in Erode district this financial year. They had also arranged free eye test to 100 drivers. Road safety training was provided to 140 drivers including those from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation. Four hundred reflectors were fitted on main roads by the trust.
