DAVANGERE, FEB. 3. The villagers of Komaranahalli and surrounding villages blocked traffic between Harihar and Shimoga, near Malebennur, on Thursday protesting the insufficient water in Bhadra channel 3. The villagers raised slogans against the officials of the Irrigation Department. They said that the standing crops will be affected owing to lack of water. They said that the department will be held responsible if the farmers incur any crop loss. They urged the authorities concerned to let more water into the channel so that standing crops could be saved. Vehicular movement on the road was disrupted for some time.
