By Our Staff Reporter

KANCHEEPURAM, FEB. 3. Chennai-bound express trains from south were detained between Vandalur and Chengalpattu from 5 a.m. to 8.30 a.m. after a trailer-lorry hit the drop-gate post at the Vandalur level-crossing this morning.

According to the police, the trailer of the lorry, laden with iron, hit the post when the driver attempted to cross the track in a hurry. The vehicle got stuck on the track.

Consequently, the Rockfort, Erode-Egmore, Nellai, Kanyakumari and Pandian expresses were detained. Electrical Multiple Unit services were also disrupted. Normal services were restored at around 8.30 a.m., police said.
