Books released

TIRUCHI, FEB.3. Two books on saint Thayumanaswamy — `Thayumanavar Varalarum Padalgalum' and Thayumanavar Vanakka Padalgal' — were released here on Wednesday.

The Collector, V. Pandian, released the books at the Arulalar Thayumana Adigal Mukthi festival held at the Rockfort Thayumanaswamy Temple here. While the book `Thayumanavar Varalarum Padalgalum' was brought out by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department, the other one by the Mouna Madam. The lineal descendant of Thayumanaswamy, Vedarathinam, hailing from Vedaranyam, was honoured by the Collector on the occasion.

Students who emerged winners in essay writing, elocution and song competitions on the topic `Thayumanaswamy' were given away prizes.
