CHENNAI, FEB. 3. GRD College, Coimbatore, retained the Gerhard Fischer Cup as it got a walk-over from Loyola College in the last four-team men's super league match of the IIT basketball inter-collegiate tournament at the IIT campus here on Wednesday. St. Joseph's Engineering, Chennai, finished runner-up, beating St. Joseph's, Tiruchi, 81-64. The latter secured the third place. In the women's section, MOP Vaishnav defended its title to take the Kokila Rajaiah Trophy, beating YMCA College 48-21. Ethiraj came third, beating Mount Carmel, Bangalore, 37-36.
Women: MOP Vaishnav 48 (Deepa 12, lakshmi Devi 16) beat YMCA College 21; Ethiraj 37 (Mahalakshmi 37, Amritha 10) beat Mount Carmel 36 (Jalaja 14).
