BANGALORE, FEB. 3. The Karnataka Swimming Association (KSA) has welcomed the SFI's move to conduct the first National short course championship in Karnataka. "A national short course meet was long overdue and we welcome the decision," said T. D. Vijayaraghavan, secretary of the KSA. He said that State Association has proposed that meet be held in October instead of September, a month ahead of the Asian indoor games in Bangkok, in which short course event has been included. SFI plans to field an Indian squad for the meet. Mr. Vijayaraghavan said that Mandya, about 100 km from here, will be the venue of the first National championship. "KSA has conducted three State short course meets in the PET Pool in Mandya and we are satisfied with the facilities there and it should make an ideal venue," he said.
