KOLLAM, FEB. 3. Temporary shelters being erected for people displaced by the tsunami at Alapad are nearing completion. Shelters for 260 families will be completed in the first phase. As many as 200 of them, being set up by the Housing Board, have been almost completed. Work on another 100, being taken by the Nirmriti Kendra, is progressing. Under the supervision of the Indian Army, 60 shelters are being set up. Meanwhile, under the supervision of the District Ayurveda Medical Officer, free medical camps have been organised at the relief camps and in tsunami-hit areas of Alapad. Ayurvedic medicines worth more than Rs. 4 lakh have been distributed.
