PATHANAMTHITTA, FEB. 3. The district administration has made elaborate arrangements for the Maramon convention near Kozhencherry on the dry bed of the Pampa. The District Collector, Rabeendra Kumar Agarwal, has said that the Thiruvalla Revenue Divisional Officer, N. Govindan Namboodiri, will coordinate with various departments for the conduct of the annual convention, organised by the Mar Thoma Evangelical Association, from February 13 to 20. The Superintendent of Police, T. Chandran, has said that 30 sub-inspectors and 300 constables will be deployed at Maramon and Kozhencherry during the event.
Power supply
The Kerala State Electricity Board has made arrangements for uninterrupted power supply to the venue. More electric lamps will be installed on the approach roads. The Deputy District Medical Officer, Philopose Mathai, has said that the Health Department will open a temporary dispensary at Maramon during the convention. Ambulance facility will be provided. The Kerala Water Authority will supply uninterrupted drinking-water supply. The Major Irrigation Department will complete a temporary check-dam, using sandbags, by February 6. The Collector has said that the Kerala Fire and Rescue Service will open a temporary camp near the Kozhencherry Bridge. The Excise Department has been told to take action against illicit liquor trade in the locality.
Children's meet
The Mar Thoma Sunday School Samajam has organised a daylong anniversary meet called Children's Maramon at the venue on February 12. The Mar Thoma Metropolitan, Philipose Mar Chrisostum, will inaugurate the event.
