Murali faults Govt. on globalisation

KOLLAM, FEB. 3. The former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president, K. Muraleedharan, has said that in spite of being a member of the ruling party, the failure of the UDF Government on many fronts is compelling him to function as an Opposition member.

He was inaugurating the valedictory function of the silver jubilee celebrations of the Kerala Cashew Workers' Congress.

He said the manner in which the globalisation policy was being implemented by the UDF Government had resulted in the State accounting for more imports than exports. He called upon all concerned to oppose such a policy. The workers at large were being driven to poverty and starvation.

He said the Smart City project was poised to meet the same fate of the projects announced under the Global Investor Meet. The tsunami-relief work undertaken by the Kerala Government was a failure, especially in Kollam district. The INTUC State secretary, Ben Morris, presided over the function..
