A batch of volunteers of the Pondicherry unit of the all-India Progressive Women's Association today took out a rally and staged demonstration at the Directorate of Fisheries and Fishermen Welfare here in support of their demands. Banu Ramakrishnan, national council member of the Association, who led the agitation, said the administration should pay a special attention to ameliorate the welfare of the women affected by tsunami. A relief of Rs. 3,000 a month should be made available to the retail fish vendors as they were now without any source for livelihood.
