Police team continues probe

By Our Staff Reporter

TIRUNELVELI, FEB. 3 . The special police team, which started its probe into the mysterious death of Murugesan, accountant of Thirukkurunkudi Azhagiya Nambirayar Temple, and the attack on the priest, Thirukottiyur Madhavan, yesterday, continued its investigation today.

The team summoned the temple manager, Thirunarayanan, this morning and evening for questioning and grilled the moneylender, Nambi Pandian of Nambithalaivanpattayam, from whom Murugesan borrowed for the marriage of his daughter. The team also questioned Murugesan's wife, Murugammal.

Police sources said that when the team visited Thirukkurunkudi on December 1 last, Mr. Murugesan met the investigating officer to handover some documents and letters sent by the Department of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment to the temple administration, questioning its authority over the shifting of the Sivan sannadhi to some other place on the temple premises.
