Metro signs MoU

NEW DELHI FEB. 3. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and Bharat Earth Movers Limited today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the intention of taking up manufacture of Metro coaches for Phase - II of the Delhi Metro Project by BEML.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Managing Director of DMRC, E. Sreedharan, and the Chairman and Managing Director of BEML, V.R.S. Natarajan.

The Phase II of the Delhi Metro Project consists of about 53 kms of corridors and is at present under the consideration of the Union Government.

First mobile expo next week

NEW DELHI FEB. 3. The Confederation of Indian Industry in association with Indian Cellular Association is organising India's first exposition on mobiles -- Mobile Expo 2005. The exposition will be held from February 9 to 12 at Pragati Maidan here.

The participants at the expo would include leading names and players from the mobile industry, handset makers like Nokia, Samsung, LG and Sony Erickson to the service providers namely Airtel, Hutch and Reliance. The other participants would include accessories makers, mobile content providers, portals, distributors and retailers.

On display at the expo would be the latest handsets along with accessories for them. The expo would act as a common platform for all the constituents of the mobile industry including mobile handset manufacturers, service providers, accessories makers and consumers.

Walkathon for tsunami victims

NEW DELHI FEB. 3. To help the tsunami victims, Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM in association with Vandana Luthra Curls and Curves and a non-government organisation Khushii will be organising a fund-raising walkathon titled "Walk for Life" on February 6.

The Delhi Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, will flag off the walkathon in which personalities from the Hindi film industry like Jackie Shroff, Jaaved Jaaferi and Farhan Akhtar would join school children of the Capital in the one-kilometre long walkathon which will begin at 3-30 p.m. from the Lodhi Garden (Gate no.4). The walkathon will end at The Claridges.

Sports day celebrated

NEW DELHI FEB. 3. Lotus Valley International School in Noida celebrated its first Sports Day at its premises this past week. The Director Finance of C.S.C. International Private Limited, Sunder Viswanathan, was the chief guest on the occasion. Smartly turned out children performed various drills and participated in athletic events on the occasion.

Manthan 2005 organised

NEW DELHI FEB. 3. To mark its annual festival titled "Manthan 2005", the Ansal Institute of Technology will be hosting the famous Euphoria band at Sector 55 in Gurgaon on February 5.

A variety of inter-college events like cyber games, management quiz, folk dance, debate, basketball and talent hunt would be organised during the festival.

The Ansal Institute of Technology, established in 2000, has in the past five years introduced undergraduate programmes in engineering, biotechnology, hotel and resort tourism management, information technology and business management.
