MANGALORE, FEB. 3. Officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department on Thursday raided a private lodge following reports that a person was cheating people by claiming to conduct free examination for asthma, cough and allergy on behalf of Hyderabad Ayurveda Pharmacy. Sridhara had placed advertisements to this effect in various dailies in the district, it is said. A press release from the District Health and Family Welfare Officer, Mohanraj, said the District Health Education Officer, M.S. Vaidya, paid a surprise visit to the lodge where Sridhar was conducting the camp. Sridhar confessed that he was cheating the people, the release said and added that he has admitted to the same in writing.
Vacates room
Sridhar was made to vacate the room forthwith, the release said. The people who had come for treatment were advised not to fall prey to such people. The release also directed managers of lodges in the city to inform the District Health and Family Welfare Officer before letting out rooms to such persons in future.
Robbed
Four persons waylaid Ismail in Vittla Police Station limits on Wednesday and robbed him of his mobile phone, a watch and Rs. 3,500 in cash. The police said the victim was on his way home in his car when the miscreants stopped the vehicle at Kasba village. They reportedly assaulted Ismail as he alighted from the vehicle and robbed him. The police said the four fled the scene in another vehicle. The police have registered a case.
Stolen
A motorcycle belonging to Prem Prakash Singh was stolen from outside a restaurant at Balmatta. The Mangalore East (Kadri) Police have registered a case in this regard.
