Sun TV clarification
CHENNAI,
FEB. 3
. Sun TV today denied that it insisted on any particular date for presenting to Chief Minister Jayalalithaa the contributions it had collected for tsunami relief work.
In a statement, the channel said it only asked for a convenient date and time to present the contributions to the Chief Minister. The channel was informed that she did not have time till Pongal. When it was told that January 17 and 18 were available, the channel confirmed its readiness to present the contributions on these days. However, it was later told that the Chief Minister was not free on these days and that the contributions could be given to the Chief Secretary.
However, the channel conveyed to the Chief Minister's office that it wanted to present the amount to the Chief Minister directly. Later, when it was asked how much it would contribute, the channel told the Chief Minister's office that it wanted to present Rs. 4 crores. The channel was then asked whether January 24 and 25 would be convenient and it conveyed its readiness to present the cheques on these days. However, there was no invitation to meet the Chief Minister till date, the channel said.
