Inter student commits suicide

GUNTUR, FEB. 3. An Intermediate student of the Gautham College in the city committed suicide last night in the hostel room by hanging herself from the ceiling fan of the room where she was residing.

The police on Thursday said 16-year-old P. Mahalavanya Durga of Bhimavaram in West Godavari complained of stomach pain, did not go to the college for study hours and was alone in the room. When her roommates knocked at the door she did not open it. The principal and other teachers opened the room to find her hanging from the ceiling.

Daughter of P. Narayanaswamy, a Food Corporation of India employee, she had lost her mother in childhood and was feeling lonely. She returned from home on January 28, the police said.
