Guntur
By Ramesh Susarla
Vudutha Krishna Rao
GUNTUR, FEB. 3. The first-time Congress Corporator, Vudutha Krishna Rao, representing the second largest division in the city, takes credit for all the development in the division. The Palakalur Main Road widening was taken up during his time, which is one of the greatest achievements, he says. While accepting that only 50 per cent of the roads in the ward were developed, he claims that even the remaining roads were laid only due to his initiative and thanks the Chairman of Vignan Educational Institutions, Lavu Rattaiah, who had donated Rs.3 lakhs for development of roads. The Local Area Development Fund contribution of Yarlagada Lakshmi Prasad, and Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, also helped the ward to take up development activities costing Rs.8 lakhs. A hot mix road had been sanctioned for the Palakalur main road, shifting of some old water pipelines had delayed the grounding of the Rs.9.9 lakh work, Mr. Krishna Rao said adding that works costing more than Rs.2 crores were implemented in the division.
Unfinished tasks
His unfinished task is getting the main road in Naibrahmin Colony extended to provide full connectivity from one end to the colonies at the other end of the division. The Urdu Primary School in the division lacks in basic amenities like water and toilets and the Corporator assures to solve these problems very soon. Providing a boundary wall to the burial ground was one of the accomplished tasks with the financial help of the people. People had contributed Rs.1 lakh out of the project cost of Rs.5 lakhs. The water supply is sufficient for the existing connections with good pressure, thanks to the Gujjannagundla reservoir with 1 lakh gallons capacity, but the new colonies do need one more reservoir, he opines.
