NEW DELHI, FEB. 3. Though the police are yet to achieve a breakthrough in the abduction of the 18-month-old boy, Arpit, from his house at Srinivaspuri in South Delhi, the possibility of the maid having an "unstable personality" and developing an excessive fondness for the child is not being ruled out. A prominent psychiatrist with Apollo Hospital, Sandeep Vohra, said the emerging facts about the maid, Savitri, so far indicates the possibility of her having an unstable personality in which a person is not capable of differentiating between right and wrong. "People with unstable personality have the tendency of getting unusually attached to someone within a short span of time," said Dr. Vohra. Arpit's father, Arvind Dewan, had employed Savitri for just 10 days as his domestic help had gone on leave. Within a week, she had become very close to Arpit and he too had started liking her. It is suspected that Savitri was afraid of losing him once the contract ended and hence vanished from the scene along with child. The police have also learnt that Savitri was upset for the past one month reportedly after a break up with her boyfriend, a security guard. Enquiries from her former employer revealed that she was unhappy over something and had suddenly quit the job. However, the previous employer said Savitri was also very close to her child. "Given these facts, there are several factors which could have led the maid to abduct the child. The reported break up with her boyfriend might have also played a role to augment negative thinking in her," Dr. Vohra added. Meanwhile, it is learnt that in coordination with the Orissa police, the South Delhi police have formed teams to conduct searches for Savitri in and around her native place. They are also mounting raids in different parts of the Capital on suspicion that she would be hiding with her friends or relatives. The police have so far questioned over 30 people to obtain clues to her whereabouts.
