HYDERABAD, FEB. 3. The rich and diverse collection from the wild at the Nehru Zoological Park is all set to get enhanced with the joining of a pair of green iguanas. The reptiles, popular as mini-dinosaur and pet-dinosaur, have been placed in quarantine in the zoo and are likely to be put for public display soon. Found in Central America and northern South America, they inhabit mainly along rivers, lakes and mangrove swamps. It lives on fruits, flowers and leaves and grows up to 6.5 feet. According to the zoo curator, B. Srinivas, the iguanas, measuring 1.5 feet, were handed over by the agency that had been taking care of their security here. "A tortoise was lost from the zoo premises last year and the security agency has now replaced the loss with the iguanas," he said.
