BANGALORE, FEB. 4. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday opposed in the Karnataka High Court the bail petition of the former Superintendent of the Central Jail, Bangalore, P.N. Jayasimha, saying he connived with Abdul Karim Telgi, the prime accused in the fake stamp paper racket. Jayasimha said the Stamp Investigation Team (STAMPIT) arrested him and filed a case in the Madivala police station accusing him and some other prison officials of helping Telgi when he was lodged in the jail. Refuting Jayasimha's charges, the CBI said he was warned several times against helping Telgi but he continued doing so. It said Telgi was given special treatment in jail by Jayasimha and others. Justice Hulavadi G. Ramesh adjourned the bail petition to Monday.
