By Our Staff Correspondent
PANAJI, FEB. 4. The former Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar, said today that steps were being taken to initiate legal proceedings against the dismissal of his Government. Talking to reporters here on his arrival from New Delhi, he said the Governor has signed the order "even as the House had assembled after the tea break and much before the pandemonium." The BJP MLA, Sadanand Tanvade, who had filed a disqualification petition against the Independent MLA, Filipe Neri Rodrigues, has claimed that Mr. Neri had joined the BJP in 2002. BJP sources said that though Mr. Neri had joined the party, the fact had been kept secret. Only after he changed sides was the disqualification proceedings initiated, they said. Sources said that the BJP was contemplating action against the Officer on Special Duty to the Governor and the Chief Minister, Pratapsinh Rane, for their accusations against the office of the Speaker and the conduct of the proceedings in the House.
