Cloudy sky likely

NEW DELHI FEB. 4. Delhiites will wake up to a misty morning on Saturday. The sky will remain partly cloudy, the weatherman has said. The minimum temperature is likely to hover around 8 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded at Safdarjung on Friday were 23.4 degrees Celsius and 7.3 degrees Celsius respectively, Palam recorded a maximum temperature of 24.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 9.0 degrees Celsius.

While the maximum and minimum relative humidity recorded at Safdarjung was 94 per cent and 36 per cent respectively, Palam had a maximum humidity of 83 per cent and a minimum of 36 per cent.

Maid remains untraced

NEW DELHI FEB. 4. The South Delhi police have not been able to trace the maid who had abducted Arpit, the 18-year-old son of her employer from Srinivaspuri in South Delhi on January 31. Raids are being mounted on her suspected hideouts.

It is learnt that the team sent to Orissa along with Arpit's father, Arvind Dewan, has returned empty handed. The team mounted raids in and around the native place of the maid, Savitri, but she was not found. Now they plan to conduct fresh raids in the Capital.

Earlier, Arpit's mother, Bharti, had appealed to Savitri to bring her son back and assured that no action would be taken against her. No ransom call has been received by the Dewans so far.

Fake certificate supplier held

NEW DELHI FEB. 4. A Home Guard allegedly engaged in supplying fake Delhi University certificates has been arrested by the Special Cell of the Delhi police at Rohini in North-West Delhi. Two computers, a scanner, a printer and compact discs were allegedly recovered from his possession.

Acting on a tip-off that Javed Akhtar, a resident of Sultanpuri, had been preparing fake degrees, the Special Cell sent a decoy to fix a deal for a Delhi University degree. The accused demanded Rs. 2,500 and took Rs. 2,000 in advance and asked the decoy to collect the document the next day at Rohini Sector VI. He was arrested red-handed.

During interrogation, he disclosed that he used to prepare college certificates, driving licenses, voter identity cards and registration certificates of vehicles. Further investigations are on.

Stray bullet injures one

NEW DELHI FEB. 4. A labourer standing on the terrace of a house was accidentally shot and injured by a 24-year-old man at Uttam Nagar in West-Delhi this past Thursday.

Pradeep Tyagi -- a resident of Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh -- was in the Capital on Thursday evening to attend a marriage ceremony. During the ceremony he reportedly fired in the air. However, the bullet hit the 22-year-old labourer, Bagawana, on his right shoulder. The victim is admitted to a hospital and is stated to be out of danger.

The West-Delhi police today arrested Pradeep and also seized the licensed pistol.

Sex racket busted

NEW DELHI FEB. 4. Four persons, including three women, have been arrested on charges of running a prostitution racket at Dilshad Garden in North-East Delhi on Thursday.

The police had information that Karan Sharma and his wife were running a prostitution racket from a Dilshad Garden house. Subsequently, they raided the place and arrested him along with his wife and two other women, one of whom is from Jammu and Kashmir. Further investigations are on.
