NEW DELHI, FEB. 4. The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) today expressed grave concern over the recent political developments in Nepal that has resulted in the suspension of all civil liberties. In a statement, the DUJ stated that it was particularly concerned over the attempts to muzzle the press in Nepal by instructing newspaper editors not to publish anything critical of the regime. The DUJ also expressed its annoyance that Army officers in Nepal have taken over newspaper offices with a view to threaten newspersons and to severe all communication channels. To protest against the attack on the freedom of press and danger to the safety and security of journalists working in the Himalayan kingdom, members and supporters of the DUJ will organise a protest rally outside the Nepalese Embassy on February 5. They would assemble near FICCI Golden Jubilee Auditorium at 12-30 p.m. and then proceed towards the embassy.
