Two-year-old boy abducted

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, FEB. 4. A two-year-old boy, K. Raju, was abducted at Hastinapuri Colony in Kushaiguda police station area on Friday.

The child was last seen going out with a 13-year-old unidentified boy who said he was taking out Raju to nearby Vijaya Ganapati temple.

The boy's grandfather, Dhanraj (60), a watchman at an apartment building under construction, suspected that a person who approached him a few days ago seeking boy's adoption could be behind the abduction. The unidentified boy could be an associate of the man in question, the police said. Raju was the only son of Dhanraj's daughter, Anantalaxmi, a widow.

ThoughDhanraj turned down the request, the man met him again with the same plea. For the past one week the unidentified boy, claiming to be a local, used to come to their hut. He would bring biscuits and chocolates for Raju. "All this appears to be a gameplan of the main suspect. But, we are not sure of the motive behind the abduction," police said.
