BANGALORE, FEB. 4. Following the Mayor, R. Narayanaswamy's direction, the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has started a drive to remove hoardings that have been put up in violation of advertisement bylaws. Over 25 hoardings have been removed in the last three days. On Friday, nine hoardings on M.G. Road that were put up in gross violation of norms were removed, stated a BMP press release here. Two hoardings, which were installed at a height of 100 feet above the ground level, three that were put up without valid permission on the Church Street and 20 that had come up in violation of norms on M.G. Road, Residency Road, J.C. Road, Siddapur Road and Brigade Road, were removed in the last three days, the release said. The drive will continue till all such hoardings that have come up in violation of bylaws with respect to size and height regulations are removed. Besides, hoardings that have not used Kannada in the advertisement matter will also be removed if the advertisers do not modify such hoardings within the prescribed time, the release added.
