VELLORE, FEB.5. The Union Minister of State for Railways, R.Velu, has urged the engineering graduates to go in for self-employment by availing of the soft loans given by banks in view of the dwindling employment opportunities in the public sector. Delivering the convocation address at the third annual convocation of the C.Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering and Technology (CAHCET) at Melvisharam on Saturday, Mr.Velu said that in view of the thousands of engineering graduates coming out of the more than 200 engineering colleges in the State, the employment potential for most of these graduates in the government, public or private sector has become very remote. "If you do not get jobs in the public or private sector, it is possible for you to become self-employed with the help of the soft bank loans available for viable bankable projects", he told the fresh graduates. The Minister assured them that he would provide them all help and guidance to get self-employed if they met him in his office at Ranipet.
