TDP leader seeks memorial for PV in Delhi
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
FEB. 6.
The Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party leader, Yerran Naidu, demanded today for a fitting memorial in the capital for the architect of India's economic reforms, P.V. Narasimha Rao.
Mr. Naidu said that while the Andhra Pradesh Government had already promised a memorial at the place where he was cremated, there should certainly be a memorial in the capital. "The country is continuing on the path of economic reforms started by P.V.'s Government. He was not only the first Prime Minister from Andhra Pradesh but also from the South. It is most unfortunate that the Urban Development Ministry has asked his family to immediately vacate the house where he lived and died after he ceased to be Prime Minister. Even ordinary MPs are given six months to vacate houses,'' he said.
